Slot Allocation Policy:
At least one slot shall be allocated to each five-year age group category in which any age group athlete sends in an application, both male and female, per the age group categories listed above. If there are no athletes entered in the race in a particular age group, then that slot will be moved to the largest populated age group in that same gender. For additional age group slots, slot allocation shall be representative of the actual number of age grouper applicants in each category in the race. As an example, if 8% of the age-group applicants are females 40-44, then 8% of these slots would be allocated in the female 40-44 category.*
Die Startplatzverteilung wurde durch die World Triathlon Corporation vorgenommen, um den Verhältnissen der gemeldeten Starterzahlen zu entsprechen.
Regulation from World Triathlon Cooperation (WTC):
Starting in 2009, the Ironman/Ironman 70.3 World Championship and all qualifying events will implement both the International Triathlon Federation and USA Triathlon´s Age Group Competition rule, which states that “All age group athletes must participate and compete in the age group division corresponding to the athlete´s age on December 31 of the year of the event.”
Final slot allocation will be posted on the event website and at the race site the day before the race. The number of slots per category might be slightly changed later on based on the exact number of applications per category.
All competitors who wish to make use of their qualification slot have to be present at slot allocation taking place Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 06:30 pm. As not each competitor will make use of his slot, other athletes will advance in the respective age group till all slots are allocated. The organizer emphasizes particularly that he has the last decision as to this allocation of slots. The starting fee for Las Vegas is US $ 350,- and has to be paid on the spot cash in Euro (final assessment for Euro will be published in the race week) only! No checks and no credit cards accepted.
